Yesterday was Father's Day. So, I dedicate this post to my father and to my tito Jun, mom's brother, who is also there for us. Love you both!

Dearest Papa,

Happy Father's Day! 

I can't remember the last time I gave you a handwritten letter. (blame the technology, you haven't get to see how my handwriting improved) Pa, thank you for being a good father to me and to kuya from the moment we were born until we grew old. You chose to be away from your family to support us with our needs. That is one of the biggest sacrifice you've done. Thank you! You may not be here when we grew up but that doesn't mean I love you any less.
As a child, I didn't really like my name 'Louie', I believe you were the one who gave it to me. But without Louie, "Maui" won't be formed because MAry and loUIe equals Maui. and without Louie, I couldn't think of a name for my blog, thus "the girl with a boy's name" is formed. Thank You!

You were the one who introduced Hello Kitty to me and supported my love for Hello Kitty by buying me stuff with her face on it. Again, thank you. I thought I outgrew my love for her but I didn't, she is still my favorite character. 
You know how impatient I get to be sometimes, I'm sorry and I promise to be more patient as possible. And when your old, tired legs don't let you move fast just like before, I'll give you my hands just like how you offered yours to me when I first walked.

I hope I made you proud. I may be halfway through achieving my dreams but I promise to never give up and you'll always be part of my dreams.  I may be an adult now, but I would still love to have you around and I am never too old for hugs.

I Love You, Pa! I'll always be a daddy's girl. I miss you.

Happy Mother's Day: What My Mom Taught Me

A Mother is known to be the child's first teacher. The moment a child understands the things around him/her, the mother answers their kid's inquiries instantly. Mothers are the one who teach their kids how to say 'Mama' 'Papa' and how to write their own name. As we aged, our moms never stop being our teachers and counselors. They might not answer every questions we asked, but they make sure we learn through experiences especially when it comes to life lessons.

Philippines had been experiencing intense heat these past few days; temperature ranging from 35 to 36.6°C. As the month of May approaches, everyone's dreading the hottest temperature our country will experience. The PAGASA even forecasts that the temperature for May 1 will reach 37°C, the hottest day for 2012. Filipinos have been preparing for this - drinking lots of water, staying inside the air conditioned room, and wearing light clothes. Around 12 to 1 in the afternoon, the white clouds and blue sky turned to gray. There goes the rain. The unexpected rain that everyone's longing for.

Travel: That Famous Church x That Floating Nipa Hut

This blog post is overdue already. This happened last December 2011 but the photos got lost and I'm so happy to retrieved it in my facebook account. Anyway, We went to Our Lady of Manaoag Church to hear mass for my Mom's birthday. Manaoag Church is located in Pangasinan, Philippines and its been famous for its miraculous tales. 

Travel: Under the Coconut Trees

Stand under a waterfalls is one of my bucket list. I've been to a man-made waterfalls but there's nothing more surreal than a natural waterfalls. Nevertheless, a breathtaking moment happened to me when I went to Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort. Not only that I stood under a waterfalls, I also had lunch under it. I've been there twice. I've been awed by its beauty on my first visit but I enjoyed it more on my second trip.

Villa Escudero offers many attractions like their museum, ethnic dances, waterfalls restaurant and a lot more. Its one of the best place to take a moment to breath with family and friends.

The Kitchen is my Playground

My grandmother was the best cook I've known in my whole existence. Now that she's gone, I am trying to follow her footsteps. I would've asked for her recipes when she was alive and I would've cooked for her. I am always into making desserts but this time I have to learn to cook other dishes with my pink apron.

What lifted my spirit recently? or rather WHO lifted my spirit? I am a shallow person and little things could make me smile :) Recently,  there are people who made me smile with their remarks.

Sakura

Sakura or Cherry Blossom grows in Japan during spring from March to May.
It's said that the origin of hanami or flower dates back to more than one thousand years ago when aristocrats enjoyed looking at beautiful cherry blossoms and wrote poems. Gorgeous flowers are main attractions of the festivals, but a variety of traditional Japanese performing arts presented in many festivals can't be missed. Joining tea ceremonies held under cherry trees can be a memorable experience as well. It's dun to stop by festival vendors which sell various food and souvenirs, including crafts and specialty food in the region. It's notable that many cherry blossom festivals hold light-up events in the evening.

2011: A Year That Was

Yes, it's a bit too late to post this blog but I must. 2011 didn't do any good to me- I still don't have a job; my boyfriend broke up with me; my family went through a lot and my grandmother died. On the positive note, I have things to thanked for.
